We still have our SOS out – and as no one has responded so far! So do we assume there is no one competent enough with a computer reading this website, willing to help us? However if you are the person to Save Our Sanity we only need a half hour or so a week of your time! (it’s relatively easy – it’s on WordPress) and to develop it a bit or a lot! Phone Liz on 07711569489 if you are interested or if you want to set up our Facebook, Twitter etc. I think Facebook is set up now.
We have a number of events and activities planned. Please let us know what you are interested / able to take part in and any bright ideas you have, or any offers to help or be an FCA Volunteer.

Come along and find out about our ideas for the local “Keep Fit, Keep Well and have Fun” sessions that we are planning for 2012, so if it’s Gentle Exercise, Zumba Gold or Tai Chi that you fancy having a go at – come along and try it out or call Sandy on 07950 831 366 to let us know what interests you ….
…and start the NEW YEAR the Healthy Way!
On more serious notes: FCA has been active in following up concerns and planning applications – at the time of submission of this update the appeal against the erection of a Mobile Phone mast outside The Westacres Pub and Lidls application to knock down the adjacent residential property at (42 Finchfield Hill) to build an extension, are still pending.
Wolverhampton Council has applied for permission to compulsorily purchase 42 Finchfield Hill to refurbish it and return it to residential use and it is likely that a Public Enquiry will be held in the New Year.
However Lidls have assured the FCA in writing, that they are still supportive of parents using their car park at school start and end times as was formally agreed.
Get out of the House! Thursday 9th Feb at 10.30am. Meet outside The WEC Gates and help clean up your local brook and spot otter evidence! Finish at 12.30.
Three WatersideCare clean up events have been held during the Autumn where local residents removed rubbish and cut back overgrown vegetation from Hawthorn Brook near Smestow School. It was clear to see the significant impact this made on the cleanliness of the brook, for the benefit of walkers and wildlife! Work will continue once a month.

Past News:
The FCA Christmas Fayre was held at Uplands Junior School on Fri 3rd Dec 6.30pm – 8.30pm and Sat 4th Dec from 11.00am til 4.00pm. There were lots of new items to buy – thanks to Sandy and everyone who helped us.
The FCA Summer Social was hosted by Uplands Junior School on Thursday 21st July. It was well attended and everyone enjoyed hearing from local poet, Carol Ward, who is Wolverhampton’s answer to Pam Ayres!
Earlier in the evening FCA Members held a Special General Meeting, called by the newly elected FCA Executive Team, who gave 21 days notice to address recommended amendments to the FCA Constitution. Details of current Membership had been checked and the meeting was quorate under the requirements of the existing Constitution.
An explanation was given about the preparation for this consultation. The newly elected FCA Executive Team sought advice from the specialist advisor at Wolverhampton Voluntary Sector Council as there were some things written into the original constitution that were not necessary or were making the running of the Association more difficult than needed. Although FCA does not need to go down the line of taking on charitable status at present, the changes advised will put the organisation in line more appropriately for this move at any stage in the future.
The amendments were carefully explained and the Members voted to accept them.
The amended FCA Constiution is available for download from this site on the tab “About FCA” or you can phone Liz on 07711569489 if you want a copy.
